Cordierite-mullite material has excellent thermal shock resistance, greater strength and can be formed by pressing, extruding, casting and vibrating into complex shapes. Besides as kiln furniture, it is also extensively used in kiln structures and kiln car systems combined with ceramic fiber to achieve the aims of improving fuel efficiency and avoiding contamination.

			Extruded hollow blocks for the perimeter of the kiln car can reduce the weight of kiln car deck, with significant energy savings. Furthermore, the service life in comparison with an insulating bricks lined kiln car, is much greater, and it is almost maintenance free.

Trend has designed a unique kiln roof system to eliminate problems caused during firing from moisture and organic content in biscuit kilns. Also developments in materials reduce the amount of contamination from roof droppings caused by a buildup of glaze. This system is designed to protect the product from ceramic fibers and contamination from insulating brick.
